Objectives:

The delegate will be able to:

  • Assess a situation to ensure their own safety
  • Recall the chain of survival
  • Choking – perform abdominal thrusts (practical)
  • Recognise a cardiac arrest
  • Identify and deal with unconsciousness
  • Perform CPR protocol (practical)
  • Safely operate an automatic external defibrillator (practical)
  • Identify common faults with an AED
  • Interpret the panel of an AED
  • Perform routine maintenance on AED
  • Demonstrate how to perform CPR (practical)
  • Demonstrate how to use an AED (practical)
  • Position someone in the recovery position (practical)
  • Demonstrate how to give an accurate handover to paramedics following the use of CPR and an AED

 

Course Content:

  1. Introduction
  2. Training subjects covered:
    • What can lead to a heart attack
    • Correct CPR protocol
    • Practical CPR
    • DVD example
    • Familiarisation and practical use of an AED

 

Recommended For: All staff and the minimum requirement if access to a defibrillator is available.

Duration: Approximately 3 hours

Certification: A certificate of attendance will be awarded

Cost: £68.25 per delegate (plus VAT) Minimum of 8 delegates, Maximum of 12 delegates

Cost discounted when bought with an iPAD Defibrillator

 

NOTE: Due to the practical nature of this course we recommend that delegates wear flat shoes, trousers and long-sleeved tops.
