The First Aid at Work Requalification Course is aimed at anyone looking to requalify their First Aid At work Certificate.

The requalification course meets the training legislative requirements of the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) & Ofsted. This is an ideal course for those nominated as First Aiders in high risk working environments or recreational settings. We can demonstrate that this course complies with your legal duties under the Health and Safety (First-aid) regulations 1981 under Selecting a first-aid training provider.

The practical, skills based content of the course ensures delegates acquire the knowledge, skills, understanding and confidence to embed their learnings in daily life.

We offer this course as both an open and closed course. Closed courses are for a maximum of 12 delegates and content can be adapted and tailored to meet specific industry and environmental requirements. A certificate of completion will be awarded. Valid for 3 years. Yearly 1 day refresher training recommended.

Objectives:

Following the completion of the First Aid at Work course, successful candidates will have satisfactorily demonstrated competence in the skills and knowledge to confidently:

    • understand the role of the first-aider, including reference to: – the importance of preventing cross infection; – the need for recording incidents and actions; – use of available equipment;
    •  assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency;
    •  administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure);
    •  administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation and use an automated external defibrillator;
    •  administer first aid to a casualty who is choking;
    •  administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding;
    •  administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock;
    •  provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters)
    •  administer first aid to a casualty with:
      – injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries;
      – chest injuries;
      – burns and scalds;
      – eye injuries;
      – sudden poisoning;
      – anaphylactic shock;
    • recognise the presence of major illness (including heart attack, stroke,
      epilepsy, asthma, diabetes) and provide appropriate first aid

    • Bleeding
    • Shock
    • Minor injuries (cuts grazes ,splinters)
    • minor burns
    • Allergic reaction, anaphylactic shock
    • Heart Attack
    • Stroke
    • Fractures, Sprains & Dislocations
    • Head, neck or back injuries
    • Major burns and scalds
    • Foreign body in eyes, ears and nose
    • Poisoning
    • Bite and stings
    • Extreme heat and cold
    • Diabetic emergency
    • Asthma attack
    • Meningitis
    • Febrile convulsions
    • Epilepsy
  3. Conclusion, feedback & admin

Content of the course and any additional training will be tailored to be appropriate to meet your needs assessment and to include any particular hazards in your workplace. Theses could include but not limited to:

    • Paediatric First aid: Infant & Baby CPR, Choking Infant & Baby
    • Haemostatic dressing or Tourniquets
    • Oxygen administration
    • Drowning
    • Cyanide poisoning
    • Hydrofluoric acid burns
    • Hypothermia or Hyperthermia

Please let us know of any additional training request as time may need to be added to the course to ensure candidates can satisfactorily demonstrate competence, any additional trainings will be added to the certificate.

Recommended For: All staff – especially relevant for people nominated as First Aiders.

Duration: 2 Days (Approximately 6.5-7.5 hours each day)

Cost:  £1485 plus VAT for a course for up to 12 delegates (£123.75 per person + VAT)

For 1 delegate on an open course the price is £135 per delegate plus VAT

All courses have a maximum number of 12 delegates. This is to be able to address the training needs of individual candidates and to adequately assess their competence. (if you require more than 12 delegates another trainer would be needed or longer training sessions or it would be best to run two courses.)

Refreshments will be provided throughout the day (tea, coffee, biscuits).  Please bring your own lunch (a fridge is available for storage).

 

Note: Due to the practical nature of this course we recommend that delegates wear flat shoes and trousers
