The delegate will be able to:-

  • Understand the basic principles of a central fugal pump
  • Gain an understanding of a water ring primer
  • Gain an understanding of a reciprocating primer
  • Gain the practical ability to operate a major and LLP pump

Course Content:

  1. Introduction (including a safety brief)
  2. Basic operations of the appliance
  3. How to operate power take off
  4. Basic principles of a central fugal pump
  5. Low pressure supply
  6. High pressure supply
  7. Pressure fed
  8. Hydrant to fill
  9. Basic principles in testing pumps and associated equipment

Recommended for: All staff that need to operate major and light portable pumps

Duration: 1 Day (0830 – 1630)

Certification: Training Portfolio inclusive of updates and assessments included.

Cost: £208 per delegate (plus VAT)  Min 6 – Max 8 delegates (Price based on training on your site with your equipment)


  • Full PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

  • Hard suction/Basket strainer combined
  • Suction wrenches
  • Suitable open water supply


Note: Due to the physical nature if the course delegates will need to be physically fit and will be required to complete a medical questionnaire prior to training.

Norfolk Safety CIC reserve the right to refuse training should a delegate fail to meet Health & Safety requirements or have a medical condition/issue that could result in potential difficulties when training. (Full charges could apply)
